Welcome

This is the class website for NMD 500, Creative Concept Development.

This class is one of two foundational classes, (NMD 500 Creative Concept Development and NMD 501 Histories and Theories of Intermedia) required as part of the first year foundation courses for the University of Maine MFA in Intermedia.
NMD 500 Creative Concept Development will provide an in-depth introduction to the theory and practice of critical thinking and creative practices that facilitate innovation and model processes that are central to creative fields in general and Intermedia in specific. Emphasis will be placed on: the conceptual and interdisciplinary nature of innovative and creative practices; an awareness of perspectives drawn from traditional creative fields, such as the arts, as well as from non-traditional forms and practices of innovation; and a focus on each individual student building a creative praxis model for their own research, development and innovative production.

Masters of Fine Arts in Intermedia

The three-year MFA degree in Intermedia (60 credits) provides graduate students with the opportunity to engage in innovative, creative and theoretical work in a flexible program that encourages individual development within an interdisciplinary context. Students will develop diverse skills grounded in methodologies from many disciplines that foster innovative, analytic, and speculative thinking necessary for innovative production and creative thinking in Intermedia.
